Pyro Pup: a film about a "Hot" dog

This September I am to officially start production on my senior film Pyro PupPyro Pup is about a puppy on fire trying to find a friend in a world where his mere presence would cause harm. This passed Spring Quarter (March- June) I started Concept Development for the film. Below is the Pitch Packet for it  (excluding the storyboards/slightly a secret right now)

Take a look!

Pyro Pup's design is still under development. This design was chosen during the story board phase!

The story is going through a few changes, but not too many.

One of my big big BIG inspirations is John Hubley's Rooty Toot Toot 1952

Maurice Noble is a huge part of my Layout Inspiration. (The Noble Approach comes out this October! I pre-ordered !!)

Non Objective painting as well as Abstract Painting. I adore Picasso's "Man Leaning on Table" 1916 (it reminds me of a cityscape!

Puppies......because puppies

Some designs developed for Pyro's look

The story includes a Homeless man, a Dog Owner, and a few other dogs

Hope you like what I have so far
 And now, Fire tests

So the fire is pretty simple. I'm still working out some problems with it but so far it's been exciting getting this all together!

I'll be posting some more designs and tests of the nature soon! Stay tuned :)

Banjo Pig Banjo

Summer Break is finally here! This break means more art for my SENIOR FILM (woooot)

But for now I have a great discovery!!

....well less a discovery but more, a recommendation? I guess...

Anyway Jantze, a brilliant professor of mine, referred me to this awesome site : Dueling Banjo Pigs

where it's nothing but (you guessed it ) Pigs playing banjos, by awesome artist! Being a little prone to drawing pigs myself I couldn't shake the opportunity to draw a pig playing a banjo...I mean come on!

So I drew this guy

and he has a little companion!

Here are some of the sketches before the illustration:

I have also made a Pinterest Account Head over and follow me! I've mostly been pinning inspiration for my film, but I'm bound to jump into other even more awesome things!

This one's made for a contest on Animal Electric (a  club on deviantart)

The instructions were to create your own dinosuar. mine is the Turtorinosaurus

Living during the Triassic period the Turtorinosaurus has been able to adapt to land and marine life. Its flat teeth make it a herbivore, and his sharp outer-beak are perfect for tearing through landscapes and burrowing its nest. It has a large shell that is used for defense against predators.

The Beginning - 2-D Animation Production

This quarter at SCAD I am enrolled in 2-D Animation Production. In this class students make a short film 15 - 35 seconds long using three shots. We’ve just finished first week, so we are in the Pre-Production stage of the filmmaking process, and I have had millions of ideas stream through my head! It’s a tough decision to take only one idea and have to stick with it for 10 weeks. But I think I may have a concrete idea of what I want.

When Pigs Fly” is a 15 second short that I produced in a week last quarter in Digital Cel Animation. I was hoping maybe I can use that concept, but make the animation A MILLION times better. That quarter we mostly use Adobe Flash, but this quarter we are being pushed towards ToonBoom (Which is great, because I know I will need the powerful knowledge of ToonBoom in the future). Or Animation Department should soon be getting ToonBoom Harmony which is exciting!

I will start processing some Visual Development soon...but I still want to explore other ideas. AS for NOW I am researching some looks I may be interested in having for whatever idea I choose.
A huge inspiration for my original “When Pigs Fly” was illustrator/animator
Sylvain Marc who has such beautiful art and animaton.

I will definitely have something fleshed out by the end of this weekend. It’s been horrible because I have been sick. Not the flu, but something sinus-y.

Happy New Year / Painting Drama

   Happy New Year!

So I haven’t really thought of any New Year’s Resolutions for 2013. I know it’s tradition, but I have other things on my mind! Things have been going pretty well, and I think that my 2012 Resolution pretty much has been fulfilled...I just have to continue fulfilling it! But my main goal this year is to get an Internship at Cartoon Network this summer. If not there, Titmouse or Frederator. Really excited!!

AAAnnd today I finally decided to enroll in Chris Oatley’s Painting Drama! I found his website
http://chrisoatley.com/ around Thanksgiving and got really engulfed in it, then found the PaperWings Podcast http://www.paperwingspodcast.com/ and loved it. So, when I found out that he was offering a Painting Class http://chrisoatley.com/painting-drama-p1/ I was inspired to enroll.

So it is going to be an interesting year! SCAD classes start this Monday, and I am already ankle deep in work.

ALSO THIS!

Contemporary Animation Society at SCAD is having there 24 hour Animation Competition! So I'll be happy to do that!

I leave you with this!!
